NanoString Workshop
In November, CanDetect researchers Dr Pilar Acedo and Kyra Fraser (UCL) attended a workshop organised by NanoString, a pioneering company in the field of spatial biology, to learn more about their powerful technology. Dr Acedo has recently been awarded a competitive MRC equipment grant which has facilitated the purchase of two NanoString platforms: the GeoMx® Digital Spatial Profiler (DSP) and the CosMx® Spatial Molecular Imager (SMI). These technologies are optimal for all tissue types and can be easily integrated into standard histology workflows, facilitating high-plex multi-omic analysis of tissue samples with up to single-cell resolution. The power of spatial multi-omics in cancer research lies with its ability to elucidate the complexities of a tumour’s biology and microenvironment, maintaining spatial resolution and revealing novel biomarkers with potential diagnostic utility. This technology will both bring new opportunities for our ongoing research projects and encourage new collaborations.
